WHO WE ARE

United Way of Northwest Florida unites people, resources, and ideas to build youth opportunity, health, resilience, and financial security across Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington counties. We run direct programs that reach thousands of families each year, we work collaboratively with local businesses, school districts, governments, nonprofit organizations, and community members to solve tough challenges, and we strategically invest dollars across our region to fund the local organizations doing critical work on the ground, so that every part of our community's needs, from a child learning to read to a family recovering after a hurricane, has somewhere to turn. Because far more can be accomplished together than any of us could achieve alone. United We Thrive.

OUR IMPACT AREAS

Youth Opportunity - Giving every child, from early literacy to a fair shot at graduation, the tools to reach their full potential.

Healthy Communities - Investing in prevention, access to care, and everyday opportunities to stay active and well.

Community Resilience - Making sure our region is ready before disaster strikes and supported long after.

Financial Security - Helping ALICE households, Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, keep more of what they earn and build a stable future.

WHAT WE DO

UW Logo on a shirtRUN DIRECT PROGRAMS – We deliver hands-on programs that meet real needs where they live: free tax preparation through VITA, early literacy support through ReadingPals, school supplies for teachers and students through Stuff the Bus, sports equipment access through Play It Forward, and food security work in Holmes County through Rooted in Holmes.
INVEST STRATEGICALLY – Through our Community Impact Fund, we fund affiliated partner agencies working across youth opportunity, health, resilience, and financial security, so that dollars raised here go toward proven, high-impact solutions instead of being spread thin.
BUILD RESILIENCE – From Hurricane Michael recovery to our ongoing work on the Community Resilience Center at AD Harris, we make sure Northwest Florida is prepared before disaster strikes and stays supported long after.
MEASURE RESULTS – Our programs and granted funds are tracked and evaluated, so donors know their gift is creating real, trackable change.

WHO WE HELPMom with son on the bus

At the center of everything we do is ALICE, Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, the working families across Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington counties who are doing everything right and still struggling to get ahead. UWNWFL helps them directly through programs like VITA, ReadingPals, Stuff the Bus, Play It Forward, and Rooted in Holmes. We also work collaboratively with more than 50 partner agencies across our region, partnering on initiatives, bringing voices to the table, and funding the programs they provide so that every piece of the puzzle, from early childhood to emergency shelter to senior care, comes together, united, to solve our community's toughest challenges.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Your gift to United Way of Northwest Florida goes far, but never far away. The funds raised here stay here, right in our six counties, either through our direct programs or through the partner agencies we fund. Whether it's a family filing taxes through VITA, a child paired with a ReadingPals mentor, or a household relying on a partner agency we support, your gift stays local, multiplies, and is a direct investment in a stronger, more resilient Northwest Florida benefitting us all.
